Dress Code

Hair: Mid-length to long hair is required to be pulled back into a neat bun fastened securely using pins, clips, or a hair net. Another option, sometimes simpler with thicker hair, is braids fastened to the top of the head. Short hair needs to be fastened away from face. The goal is to keep the hair completely secured to the crown of the head, so it’s not a distraction or painful during turns.

Girls: Pink tights, or white crew socks and pink leather ballet slippers. A light pink, white, light blue or black colored leotard. Tight knit warm-ups are allowed the first half of class. A sheer skirt no longer than your fingertips is also allowed. Character shoes should be black and the heel should not be higher than 1 1/2 under the age of 12. You can wear your own folk skirt to class, but practice skirts will be available.

Boys: Short-sleeved white leotards, or white sport shirt, with blue tights, shorts or yoga pants, thin white crew-length dance socks and white or black ballet shoes. Hair should be combed and fastened away from face if long. Folk shoes can be black tap shoes without the tap, Irish step shoes or regular black male charter shoes.

Ladies: Pink tights and pink leather ballet slippers with a solid colored leotard, no prints. Tight knit warm-ups are allowed the first half of class. A sheer skirt no longer than your fingertips is also allowed. Charter/folk shoes should be black and you can wear your own skirt to class, but practice skirts will be provided.

Gentlemen: Short-sleeved white or gray leotards or sport shirt with black tights, shorts or yoga pants, and nude or black ballet shoes. Hair should be combed and fastened away from face if long. Folk shoes can be black tap shoes without the tap, Irish step shoes or regular black male charter shoes.

Modern/Contemporary: Wear comfortable formfitting clothes and bare feet.

Adult Ballet: Comfortable clothes and ballet shoes

No prints or wording allowed on any attire.  Stripes on warm-up knit wear is okay.
